The Vicissitudes of Discretion in Psychotherapy
Abstract
The obligation to guard the information gained in psychotherapy can develop into a conflict, as the supervision necessitates its display. Ambivalent hesitation may hamper the psychotherapist’s effectiveness and progress. No generally valid answer to the problem is given, only a discussion of all determinants involved in the conflict, to facilitate individual solutions by psychotherapists.
