Variations in Countertransference Reactions in Psychotherapy with Children

The traditional model of countertransference considers mainly therapist reactions to particular characteristics of their child patients. A broader model of countertransference is discussed here in which therapist reactions toward the child may be displaced onto the parent(s) or therapist reactions to the parent(s) may be acted upon in the treatment of the child.
