Understanding the Relationship between Transference Interpretation and Outcome in the Context of Other Variables

Research has suggested that aspects of transference interpretation are related to the outcome of short-term individual psychotherapy. Also influential are patient characteristics and the therapeutic alliance. Previous studies are reviewed and new evidence from a recently completed project is provided concerning the combined impact of these variables on outcome.
