Abstract
Religious delusions are prevalent among Jews as among Protestants and Catholics in a private psychiatric hospital population. The delusions, illustrated by five case examples, have Old Testament or Christian content. One of these delusions is discussed, historically referring to Sabbatai Sevi, as well as the conditions, individual and sociological, which have caused Messiah preoccupations to arise.
