The Supervision of Psychotherapy Supervisor Trainees
Abstract
Much has been written about the needs of therapy trainees and how to address them in supervision, but little has been written about how to address the needs of psychotherapy supervisor trainees who are having their own work supervised; an attempt is made to deal with that deficiency in what follows. In accordance with previous theory, four supervision environments that match supervisor trainees’ needs at different points of development are subsequently identified and described. The theoretical/conceptual, research, and practical implications of this material are briefly considered.
