Putting Eastern Philosophies into Western Psychotherapies
Abstract
This paper provides the reader with a discussion of several multidisciplinary trends in modern society which leads to a questioning of the basic theoretical orientations that underlie many of the contemporary psychotherapies. It explores the nature of this new paradigm, giving rise to the notion of a new stage of human development. In so doing, Eastern philosophical psychotherapies are considered, along with the implications for Western psychotherapy.
