Perspective of Power in Therapeutic Relationships

To view power in psychotherapy from a perspective unencumbered by tradition has not been very popular until now, neither with clinicians nor with theoreticians. Its relevance increases however because of the hierarchical rigidity in the relationships between therapists and patients and the emergence of competing health care movements. The model presented in this article offers new possibilities for therapeutic action and avoids a number of scientific pitfalls.
