Outpatient Management of the Suicidal Child

Suicidal children often can be managed without hospitalization. Work with parents is necessary to alter precipitating environmental conditions. Psychotherapy is indicated for the suicidal children who need help in altering aggressive responses to frustration. Drug therapy may prove a useful adjunct. Two illustrative cases are presented.
