Healing Factors of Psychiatry in Light of Attachment Theory
Abstract
Bowlby’s attachment theory describes secure attachment to a parental figure as necessary for normal development. Without secure attachment during formative years, adults are chronically anxious about the availability of others when needed. Psychotherapy has features which change such anxious attachment to secure attachment, allowing the patient to change his world.
